The building was inspired by the summer palaces in Beijing. A local architect from Towester was commissioned to design a unquie oriental style building for Milton Keynes. The main structure was constructed with wooden vertical and horizontal beams which are visible externally and internally. The Pergoda style roof was designed with a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and trusses.
